Our Pre K, Kinder, and 1st Grade friends are developing and maintaining basic computer skills from mouse-clicking to how to navigate through kids' websites like starfall.com and pbskids.com.
2nd Grade
Second Graders are beefing up their math and logic skill on coolmath-games.com, which also helps develop more internet navigation abilities such as using search engines and different internet browsers. Next up will be strengthening our knowledge of letter sounds including consonant, short vowel, long vowel, and compound vowel sounds on Letterbugs.
3rd Grade
We're learning the where the letters and punctuation are on the keyboard and which fingers are used to type each key! It's so exciting! We have started off with a basic interactive typing video called BBC Bitesize Dance Mat Typing. The link to the guide is here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3c6tfr. Each stage features a new animal that walks the student through finger placement and adds two new keys as you go up each stage. When they finish a stage, the animals sing them a song!
We're also beginning our journey through the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. We touch on the fundamentals of how to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. By doing the different projects that we have, our kiddos have used to internet to insert clip art and pictures, and do some simple research over an animal of their choice. We even touched on their presentation skills when they presented their PowerPoint in front of the class.
5th Grade
We start off the semester with KeyBoarding online to refresh the students' typing skills. Also, here's a link to a fun typing game that will not only reinforce learning where the letters are, but it will also sharpen the mind:

We go into a bit more detail in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and to spice things up a bit, we learn how to use Audacity, an audio recorder and editor. Students write an original story, which they narrate into Audacity, add background music and a few sound effects! Lastly, they are able to share their creative side when they play their podcasts for the whole class!
6th Grade
We continue to improve upon our typing skills. We go more in depth into Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and we start to learn the basics of Microsoft Excel. Students also got a taste of what it would be like to be a radio personality! They partnered up and transformed into radio personalities where they hosted their very own advice talk show!
7th/8th Grade
We of course continue strengthening our typing skills with KeyBoarding Online. We review all of the functions we know from the previous years of using Word and PowerPoint, and deepening our understanding of the use of Excel. Students also create their own basic webpage, and will learn some simple Java Script coding!
3D Printing
We started by learning what 3D Printing is and what the different 3D printing processes are. Naturally we also needed to learn how our printer works as well. Then we finally started to design our very own models. Here is the link to a video of how a 3D printer works:
